How Long Will a Quartz Countertop Last?
Quartz is a human-engineered stone that is designed to last more than a lifetime. It holds its value very well. As long as it is not scorched deep by anything more than 425-500 degrees or intentionally broken using force with something like a sledgehammer, your quartz may last forever.
Is Quartz Better Than Granite?
It’s really personal opinion. You are not going to get the true look of natural stone in quartz, but you will in granite.
Does Quartz Stain More Than Granite?
Quartz does not stain more than granite. Because granite is a natural stone, it has small micropores in it and some severe dyes may actually cause a stain. However, quartz is an engineered stone and there is no way to stain a quartz countertop.
What Is The Downside Of Quartz Countertops?
There really isn’t one. The heat is the only thing that can affect it. You can get away with a cookie sheet, but if you put a hot pan down, it may discolor the quartz and damage or discolor the polymer resin.
Does Quartz Scratch Easier Than Granite?
Not really. It takes about the same amount of pressure to scratch either one of them. In order to scratch granite or quartz with a common knife, you would have to be pretty aggressive and use a very heavy sharp knife, and almost purposely try to scratch it. Many people use their quartz or granite countertops as their cutting boards.

Valley Center, KS
Valley Center was incorporated on September 29, 1885, and was named for its location in the valley of the Arkansas River.
On the morning of July 17, 2007, a large explosion occurred at the Barton Solvents chemical plant in Valley Center, destroying the plant and forcing the temporary evacuation of the city. Cleanup began several weeks later, and the investigation was completed by mid-August.
